Lights. Camera. Action!
Months of planning our first event and finally everything came together last Wednesday. Within Highland Park Village , we mingled. Socialites, Fitness Gurus, Entrepreneurs, Fashionistas and Professionals arrived to mix, munch, sip and shop from 6 – 8 pm. Let’s be honest here: throwing our first event so new into the blogging scene made us very anxious. Who would show up? What if no one showed up? What if we forgot something? What if we didn’t even gather any toys for Rays Of Light?
Thankfully none of this actually played out. The night was a success!
Which is why we can actually right this article now, How to Throw Your First Blog Event 101:
1.) Find a venue. When choosing a venue for our event we chose Bandier. Reason being, the store has a great party environment! If you don’t believe us, just check out the DJ set up behind the cashier counter next time you drop by. These girls are always prepared to party! P.S we also love their clothing and want everyone to love/shop it too.
2.) Give it back. It may seem like a lot to ask for some, but being so fortunate to just have this event opportunity, we had to pay it forward! We chose Rays of Light due to our brief relationship with them through Slipper Club and because they really are amazing. Who wouldn’t wanna give sweet children more presents????
3.) Cater it! Raise your hand if you attempted to mix your cocktail with your juice? Note: it can be done. Point is, we when catering the event we wanted the best of health and happy hour. Even more importantly, we wanted to showcase our favorite local brands. We chose juice from I am the Juice Place, Dallas’ first made to serve juice shop in Downtown Dallas. Cocktails from OTR: On The Rocks Cocktails were delicious, local to our the Design District, they are pre-made cocktails with the finest ingredients! Chicken salad and pitas from our friends at Simply Fit Meals, were easy to serve and yummy for the tummy! You can find this amazing meal prep kitchen off of Blackburn St. and McKinney Ave. Lastly, Hail Merry Snacks are fun for everyone! Resembling cookie dough, these snacks are gluten free, vegan, dairy free, paleo friendly and no GMO certified!
4.) Party favors!! Gone are the days when you went to a birthday party and received a party favor with goodies. But guess what? We felt like bringing those days back! At least for our first 30 guests. We also thought this would be a great way to show case some of our favorite studios, brands and companies. We are thankful for all the vendors that filled these bags: Wild Arrow Fitness Mat coupons, Wheat & Honey Co cards, CryoZone 3 for $30 sessions, Posh pampering samples, Oatmega Brownie Protein bars, Crossfit Deep coupons, Perfect Fit Protein powders, Bandier Emoji stickers, Bearded Brothers Protein snacks, The Barre Code – Design District Class Passes, and SoulCycle One Free Ride coupons.
5.) Raffle Prizes. Bring a toy or buy a ticket, win a prize! Who doesn’t love prizes? We gave away multiple gift cards from some of our favorite studios as well as a Gymtote & a Sol & Selene Backpack!
6.) Invitations! To make things a little more personal than an Eventbrite page, we chose to request RSVPs via email so that we could send everyone a personalized invitation via Paperless Post. It’s a great invitation website with tons of cute options for ecards and mail-able cards. One great thing we loved about sending invitations out through Paperless Post is that it tracks all of the invitations, if they have been sent, opened,
declined, accepted, or bounced! They even let you send free reminders to your guests about the event.
Those 6 things were our most important! We can’t wait to start planning our next event, we’ve definitely got some ideas up our sleeves for next time.
